Social networking has revolutionized the way we communicate and share information with one another.In libraries, this can be used as a marketing tool whereby the customers can be updated on resources and services.It can also be used as a professional networking site for library professionals and library patrons.

Online applications and tools

I am amazed at the number of free online productivity tools that are available out there for our use. It would be so much easier to work on projects with customers contributing ideas and sharing their knowledge. I can see great use of this application in the local history section of the library. Amazingly. I found Google Docs to be an excellent collaborative tool, that allows people to share their views.

Mashups

Mashups are used to mix features from one application with another. They can be used in libraries to promote activities on flyers, bookmarks, calenders and posters.
